1.The so-called “multiverse”

As anyone who has arrived at the last episode of the Loki series knows well , within the Marvel narrative world the so-called “multiverse” has opened, that is the intricate sequence of dimensions and parallel timelines that now intertwine seamlessly. This means that, through the powerful means of animation, we will be able to see what happens in the alternate versions of our Earth, in which maybe the agent Carver has taken the place of Captain America , Tony Stark has never become Iron Man because saved by Killmonger, Spider-Man comes into contact with the magic of the Supreme Wizard and, again, the Avengers have become zombies . Each of the 10 episodeswill explore an unprecedented possibility, which answers the question: “What would have happened if …?” .

2.You don’t run away from the “canon”

Could you imagine that What If …? is a kind of divertissement for the most impalled with the Marvel world, a way to play with characters, events and settings from comics and films. In reality it seems that he wants to do much more: “Without going into too much detail, I can tell you that What If …? it’s as important as any other title and well woven into the tapestry, ” executive producer Brad Winderbaum said, hinting that this animated series can be placed within the official canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe . Therefore, what happens here may have consequences on the trend of the entire narrative world. In fact, it is no coincidence that it comes out now, anticipating the two films  Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange 2 ** in which it seems that the multiverse will play a fundamental role: viewers will arrive so prepared for its possible consequences.

3. There is always an “Observer”

We said: each of the 10 episodes will tell a story in itself . But there will be an element that will act as a glue: the narrator . And that is a character known to comic book fans:  Uatu  or the Observer . Here voiced by Jeffrey Wright, who is part of a very advanced humanoid species that, after having witnessed the collapse of several civilizations in the galaxy, decides to withdraw from all involvement, but at the same time to record all the events that occur in the multiverse. Uatu, in particular, is among the Observers the one in charge of controlling the Earthand, despite his original intent is precisely to never intervene, we know from the comics that every now and then he has failed in this promise. Apparently, though, in What If …?  will live up to his name Di him: “He’s a bit like the guy who filmed the Pizza Rat [the mouse that went viral because he walked around dragging a piece of pizza in the New York subway, ed]” , he explained the bizarre way screenwriter AC Bradley. “She doesn’t want to caress him, she doesn’t want to be friends with him. He is simply fascinated .

4.Those rumors

There will be many actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who will reprise their roles, even if as voice actors: they range from ** Hayley Atwell **, who returns in the role of Agent Carter, to Josh Brolin   who plays Thanos again, passing for Benedict Cumberbatch ‘s Doctor Strange, Michael B. 5.Like comics

What If …? it’s certainly not the first time Marvel has enjoyed subverting the canonical plots we all know. Indeed, the origin of this series lies precisely in the ** comics ** of 1977 which were followed by 13 series . In the very first issue it was asked: What If Spider-Man had joined the Fantastic Four?” , imagining Peter Parker among the ranks of the Fantastic 4 Even these stories were initially told by Uatu from his base on the Moon, but later other narrators were introduced (including the cameo of Brian Michael Bendis, historical Marvel author). There are countless stories invented in the course of the various publications, from Captain America elected president toWolverine becoming the new Punisher , from Iron Man described as a traitor to Storm acquiring the powers of the Black Phoenix, from Jessica Jones joining the Avengers to Xavier and Magneto founding the X-Men together.
